Vits Hotel is located in Andheri east, exactly in between JB Nagar metro station and Airport Road. This 4 star hotel has a magnificent lobby with a fountain and beautiful spiral staircase. The Poolside restaurant is located on the first floor. As the name suggests, this restaurant is by the pool and is so serene and relaxing. The clear blue water in the pool, echoes of birds in the background, greenery all around was all so perfect. You even have the option of climbing onto the platform with a glass floor and taking in the beauty of this restaurant. The best part, you can see the swimming pool right below you. Having visited during Onam, the staff was decked up in traditional attire, the classical background music matched the Onam festivities and there was a separate menu for the Onam Sadya. However, we felt that the music was being played in a loop, therefore repetitive. Could have done better on this front. The menu included South Indian specialties and being fanatics of this cuisine, we just couldn’t wait to get started. Here’s how our meal went: Onam Sadya Thali – It comprised of an eclectic range of South-side delicacies such as Banana chips, Sharkara Varatti, Papadam, Rassam, Sambhar, Kerala Matta (brown rice), Avial, Veg Thoran, Parippu curry, Chena Mezhukkupuratti, Kalan, Beetroot Pachadi, Paruppu Payasam, Seviyan Payasam and Elaichi Banana. Every single one of these dishes were well prepared with bold flavours and spices, in accordance with the flavours and spices available down South. Our personal favourites were the Chena Mezhukkupuratti which is a yam stir fry. We also savoured the Avial and Veg Thoran. The sweet dishes were the perfect way to end our meal! Absolutely LOVED this thali. We also tried the lunch buffet which was a great fusion of Asian & North Indian cuisines. We started off with some fruit salad which included delicious fresh fruits such as watermelon, papaya and muskmelon. We then tried a few other salad varieties such as Sesame Beetroot Sour cream, Quinovo Cous Cous Salad, Tomato cheese caprese, Stuffed cucumber and the Nawabi Fruit Salad. The Nawabi fruit salad was an instant WINNER for us. We were then pampered with a couple of appetizers that arrived on our table namely, Paneer Tikka, Chilli Garlic Paneer stir fry, Potato Rolls and Malai Chicken Tikka. Every dish out of this world and worth visiting again for. Moving on to the mains, we tried the Tawa Pulav, Dal Panchratan, Malai Kofta, Palak Paneer, Kalan (Kerala curry), Vegetable Poriyal, Pasta Casserole and Subzi Degi Mirchi amongst the vegetarian options. The Malai Kofta, Palak Paneer, Kalan and Tawa Pulav was to die for! Absolutely DELISH! Amongst the non-veg appetizers, we tried the Schezwan Fried Rice, Sesame chicken & veggies, Murgh Adraki, Fish in Manchurian sauce and the Chicken Biryani. Hands down, their Chicken Biryani was aromatic, flavourful and spicy! WOW! Ending our meal on a sweet note, we were spoilt for choice with their range of drool-worthy desserts namely, Pineapple Mousse, Gulab Jamun, Chocolate coconut cake, Noga Pastry and Anjeer Barfi. On the whole, we had a great experience at Vits Hotel – The Poolside. Our server, Mr Dhaval who assisted us was very efficient, friendly and helpful. He surely did a great job. We would definitely be visiting again soon.
