Good Enough

Hailing basically from nagpur, and having my taste buds inclined towards spicy food I was almost always disappointed while having chat at various outlets in mumbai. Pani puri is supposed to be had with boiled aloo smashed with boiled chick peas mixed in it. Add some green spicy chilli chutney to it and your masala is ready to be put in the puri. But majority of the chat places don't use aloo in pani puri they have a substitute to it; the chana dal. I never liked the taste of it. Even the Puris are small in size. One fine day I came across this outlet at carter's and to my relief I found that they serve pani puri the way it is supposed to be had. The Puris are huge in size, they use smashed aloo with chick peas and extra chutney added for that much needed spice. Their khatta pani is amazing. Leaves a zing on your tongue once you have a puri. Well that's what puchkas are made to do right..? Amazing taste. We even tried the Kolkata Kachori Ghoogni Chat. And I loved it. The taste was authentic enough to make me order for one more plate. Then came the Kolkata jhal mudi. Served the way they do at Bada Bazaar, in small packets made of paper, this one is a definite yes on my list to have when I visit again. Spicy, lemony, crispy flavourful combination is simply too hard to resist. No compromises on the quality and hygiene at this place. Kulhad Chai was also good. The masala was perfect, asked them to make it a little gingery and they did. Loved the chai as well. Our overall experience was amazing. Thoroughly enjoyed it. The only thing that disappointed me was the price. It's exorbitant. And hence the 3.5 rating. Anywho. Do try out this place. And let everyone know how your experience was. Adios people. Happy munching. :)

Well...

Had home delivered first time. So went there second time. The place was dirty no gloves on hands of servers. Floor as well as counter tops needed cleaning. In today's day and age basic hygiene is needed. Saving grace is the taste and we didn't fall ill.

Insane!

As I was tried the best thing I could have was Tea. I had Masala Tea which was very awesome. The way of making the tea and serving it was amazing. I will very soon visit the place again to try all the other dishes #highly recommended to all the tea lovers ❤️

Great!

You add the word 'Kolkata' to your name, you make me your fan. I have spent the first twenty two years of my life in the Bengali heartland. I have loved the music, the chai, the puchka and the ghoogni, the Puja and the addas which is omnipresent all across the city. So when Chaat Stories made their foray into the famous Khau Galli of Bandra I was elated and delighted and equally nostalgic. The menu lists all my favourites- jhal muri, samosa chat, puchka, churmur, ghoogni and chai. I have frequented this place everytime I have been to Carter Road. Jhal Muri- The perfect blend of spices roughed and mixed in mustard oil gives an essence of the jhal muri distributed of the local and street of Kolkata. Kurmure as it is called in Mumbai is served here is different from what we get here. The texture is different. Onion, Green and red chillies are mixed in satisfactory proportions giving it a perfect blend of spices and a great taste. Puchka- the essential ingredient of the puchka is the Masala which is made of mashed potatoes, gram seeds and pudina chutney. The Masala has been mixed in perfect ratio to give it a most perfect taste. The puchka or the pani puri is the atta pani puri. Jaw dropping taste makes me drool over them. Churmur - while you get everything served here in Mumbai, Churmur has been missing. Churmur combines boiled potatoes, kanjhi wada, gram seeds and dry puchka combined with spices. It different from aloo chaat where fried potatoes are used whereas here it boiled. The place knows how to add the spicy well and a hint of lemon giving it a tangy flavour. Ghoogni- Boiled chick peas or batana seeds is served with mint and tamarind chutney with onion, green chilies and ginger for seasoning. The portion is cooked well in advances and is served hot by adding water roasting it in a pan. They add minute slices of coconut and lemon for flavours. My only disappointment here has been the chai- the essence of ginger is missing in it. The tea leaves also used misses the essential nostalgia flavours. @Chaatstories the place has brought back so many memories and I am to relive a few of them.
