The relation between mughlai foods and our city dates back to nineteenth century when a dethroned Nawab from Lucknow had run away from his dominion and took refuge to Calcutta. The destitute King had nothing left with him,but a few of his faithful Chef's accompanied his Highness.T hat was how Awadhi cuisines were introduced to Bengali culture and gradually became integral part of our tradition. Royal Indian Hotel at Chitpore,a legendary restaurant by its own right epitomizes the beauty and class of Awadhi cooking. The dishes we are served are truly royal standard.Their Chaanp is the ultimate show stopper which is slow cooked with secret spices. The Biryani is also special and opposed to the trend of the City, there is no potatoes in Biryani. An AC section is there upstairs, but the ground floor is preferred by most of the visitors. Not only the perennial mughlai foods,Royal also prepares some of the most favorite north Indian dishes such as Chicken butter masala and tikka masala. Truly one of the most adorned restaurant which never fell short of the class and excellence.

It's just not only a restaurant. It's our pride, glory and honour. I was there with my Mom and Dad. We had Mutton Biryani, Mutton Chaap and Salad. They just let us always taste the authentication flavour and aroma of Mughlai, Shahi and Nawabi cuisines.

Naam bahaut suna, par biryani mein maza nehi aya. We ordered special mutton biryani, mutton pasinda, chicken bharta, sahi tukda and firni... being sweet toothed πŸ˜€ Enjoyed the dessert dishes thoroughly and also the mutton pasinda . Maybe the biryani of them is such simple with a solid lump of mutton in it . But the biryani didnot touched the heart since it was medium cold. However the staff was courtesy and the ambience was great. Enjoyed the foods though. A Must visit.

The Famous Biryani of Royal. Heard a lot about this delicacy and today finally got the chance to taste it. It was delicious quite obvious. Jucy chunk of mutton and flavoured rice. Just one surprise, potato is not included. Would love to come back again for other offerings.
