The occasion was birthday dinner of a very dear friend who is a Vegetarian, otherwise catch me approving spending so much on Vegetarian food 😃. Jokes apart, Royal Vega has been a place that I have been waiting to try, having heard about it from a few close friends whose food choices, I trust. My general opinion about star properties has changed in the last year after few experiences with bloggers meet at such places, where food is given the last priority and the PR wants you to be their PR. In general, my visits have reduced, and even if I do, I've stopped registering it in my Blog as, such places have enough PR coverage, already. But, the food at Royal Vega has pushed me to write about it. Service and ambience were matching the properties standards. Three types of sit-down menu is what Royal Vega, holds. Ritu Khasa, which is the Chef's special thali priced ₹2500 + GST. Ranjit Khasa, the North Indian thali and Arusuvai Vrindu, the South Indian thali were priced at ₹2000 + GST, each. I opted for Ritu Khasa and made my other two friends order the other two thalis 😝. Course by course, this was an amazing food experience. Amuse Bouche was a miniature Rasagulla. Not part of my Ritu Khasa thali, but the person who served us, offered the Jeeragam Rasam to all the 3 of us. It tasted awesome and as such it's a pleasure to have a nil-irritant Rasam Soup. I asked for another serving, shamelessly. Dahi Pakori was perfect. Rajmash Tikiya, melted in the mouth. Hari Mirch Stambhita had the perfect texture and correct amount of potato stuffing for a Mirchi Bajiya. Palak Chaman, looked and tasted rich. Never knew this avatar of Arbi (Colocasia) existed till I tasted the Arbi Mewa Jhol, which had cashews and lotus seeds. Dal Adhav was the usual dal. Lauki ke Kofte was in a different version here, called Ksiratumbi Kofteh, but slightly more spiced than necessary. Don't know if it's the psychological effect of the brain where it signals your palate when you are eating something as rich as a Gucchi Mutter, but the Gucchi Chilgoza, where the exotic Himalayan Morels were cooked along with Pine Nuts, was rich and tasty at the same time. Shatawari was something that I was looking forward to after the first glimpse into the menu and it didn't fail my expectations. The Asparagus dish just takes the exotic vegetarian tag to the next level. Just a small twist of adding Moong Dal to the Spinach Pakoras in the humble Kadhi Pakoda transforms it into a star dish called Palak Mungori Kadhi. This is something I should have known, but alas, I was ignorant, all these days. Kathal Pudina, the raw jackfruit dish was simply out of the world. Call me stupid, but whatever be the Gravy/Subzi, I always enjoy it only with Plain Parathas. Not a great fan of modified Rotis and Naans, but if it is part of a thali or meal, I don't stop myself from experimenting the same. So, absolutely no qualms about the Besani Poori (Gramflour Pooris), Makkai Pullika (Corn Rotis) or the Ajwaini Roti (Caraway Roti) that was served, but I always feel an option of plain Roti should be given. Somehow, I enjoy my meal more with Plain Rotis. My thali came with Chanaka Pulao (Kala Chana) which I absolutely loved, but didn't quiet enjoy the Ganika (Jasmine Rice), as I wasn't sure what it will go with or maybe it was my mental block that associates Jasmine Rice only with Pan Asian and not any other cuisine. Did taste a few more Rice types from my friends thalis as the person who served was generous enough to pass it to us. Fitting ending was the desserts Madhukarkati Halva Asvagandha made out of Papaya and Asvagandha and Makhane Chuara Kheer made out of Rice, Makhana (Lotus Seeds) and dates. Deeply Satisfying. Since, it was my friend's birthday, they presented a very unique on the house cake made out of Rice, Gulkand and Pomegranate, completely Vegan. It was very unique and tasted, good too. Total bill was ₹7670 (18% GST and no service charge).

I was looking forward to the meal here. There were 3 types of thalis . 1 North, 1 South , 1 chef SIGNATURE which was called Grishma Ritu or Summer season food. The signature thali seems good value as it had costly items like Asparagus etc but still I settled with the South Indian thali which was named Rajendra thali after the chola king. It started with sweet burfi like followed variety dishes. I liked the 2 type of Puris. The podi rice, coconut rice, idiayappum, but the star was the rasam served in wine glass which I had 2nd helping. I could not consume 2 other type of rice and some other sweet dish. Enjoyed food totally
