Very Bad

Getting tempted to eat ? So was I , but trust me I suffered from stomach ache and was puking for two days. 'Appearance can be deceiving' was hence proved. Although the service was fine , everything other than that was a nightmare. Guess what did I find towards the end near the chair I was seated ? A cat and a cockroach . Still wanting to visit here ? 😂
Well...

The kodambakkam branch of Data Udipi hotel is situated on the side of the kodambakkam bridge. There is absolutely no space to park your vehicle while the hotel itself is cramped with tables and chairs very close to one another. It resembles a place left unattended for decades. I tried idly and dosa for they were the only items available on a Sunday morning ! Idly and dosa were good. Sambar okay which was neither udipi style nor the tamil style. The Coconut chutney was not properly ground. Cost was cheap and service okay.

Location : Next to kodambakkam masjid below the bridge. If u are searching for a good veg restaurant in kodambakkam near railway station, i would recommend this place. On seeing the name as Udupi dont think tat it might be a mangalorean place which may serve neer dosa or buns, its just a hotel with tamil south indian menu oly , but the sambhar will be some in mangalore style for tiffen. Pricing is acceptable here. taste is also good . Ambience is ok for the pricing in Non Ac , i have no idea about AC dine hall. I genrally prefer to have sambhar vadai and dosa here.

Taste : 4/5 ; Ambiance : 3/5 ; Service : 3/5 ; VFM : 3.5/5 After being stranded in kodambakkam after some personal work nearby i was looking for a place for breakfast before i could board a train...thats when i was reminded on Data Udipi hotel thats located below the Flyover of kodambakkam...so i headed straight there...They have some basic parking for bikes and the space below the flyover might be used for cars..They have an A/C section on the first floor but i opted for Non A/C section as i was in a hurry Typical chennai styled Veg restaurant with some average cleaning and maintenance...The servers were quite busy in the morning around 7:30 and even with all the crowd i could see they were quite good in attending each and every customer...They quick and prompt..no problems there....Ordered a sambar idli, Sambar Vadai and a Fresh lime juice...The order was served in around 3-4 mins with the juice arriving exactly as i was finishing other items... Sambar idli was very good..the sambar has always been a positive as Data udipi outlets for years and this was no different topped with a few onions it was a really good dish...The sambar vadai too in that perfect sambar was really great in taste...the Lime juice was a pretty basic one cant expect more from this... Total was 80rs which was completely worth for the food..and taste of items too is great..definitely a lot better compared to their other outlet in saidapet where the experience was quite forgetful in terms of food...People in Kodambakkam need to look no further and head straight to Data udipi hotel for some good VFM breakfast....

Location & Parking: Located on the road below the Kodambakkam bridge and shouldn’t be tough to spot the place; anyone in the locality would be able to direct you there. The parking is fine for two-wheelers but four-wheelers might have hard time. Ambience: The look never really comes into picture; it looks decent and the food just balances for the ambience. Taste & Variety: There tiffin/breakfast menu is the best and my personal favorite. Meals is decent but the chinese and other varieties are edible but not their best. A plate of Idly and pongal with Vada, Sambar and Chutney would fill you up with happiness. They also have mini coffee which is ideal for me if I am not in a mood to gulp the big dabra of Coffee. Quality & Quantity: The food quality and quantity would be perfect for a person and it is yum. Service: No complaints while dining; but for parcel you got to wait for a while and there is no proper organisation for parcels. Price: Rs.100-130 would be perfect for two people to have their tiffin. The breakfast dishes are priced reasonably for a restaurant like this. For the people in and around Kodambakkam this would be a decent place to enjoy their breakfast. Not sure if it’s legendary but very popular and prominent option quoted by the residents of this area. Mostly I take out parcels from the place and very rare were the dining experience so no clicks.
