Best dining experience ... Service was exemplary and so was the food ....   Butter poached Lobster, Duck were stand out along with Butter milk noodles with Lemon pickle ...  They have option to choose based on your taste from the 5 different menus available.  The only let down for me was the taste of the dessert  Fine dining experience with south Indian flavors makes me want to go again... But then i think about the cost :) Personally it is totally worth the cost ...

Definition of Fine Dining. Nothing less than 5 stars. Save this place for a real occasion. And watch out for the Jasmine Payasam - it will blow your mind

It was novel experience of having traditional food with a great new twist. Enjoyed thoroughly . It is south Indian food presented in unimaginable new way with a great twist. It was delicious. There was enough variety for vegetarians too. Presentation of the dishes was good

One of the best culinary experiences. Period. Perfection and excellence is the under current at avarthana. What an ambience, what spacious seating, what privacy achieved in an open dining, what a beautifully crafted menu and most importantly, what food. We chose the 9 course meal which costed roughly 2900 (inclusive of tax). The moment we took our first sip of the tomato rasam in a martini glass, the price went out the window. Steaming hot rasam is poured into an infuser jar with coriander leaves and is served in the manner of green tea. You'll be amazed, stunned and speechless at the perfection in the mix of flavours. I'm very picky about my food and the waiter readily agreed to change a couple of items in my course with the items from the other courses. We started with a pallet cleanser which was cucumber dipped in mor molaga. It was different but helped kick start all our taste buds for the forth coming meal. Our first course was chickpea and millet with rice crisps. It was sinful. Very hummus like. It had a raw mango salad with a couple of other items on top. It was so good, I couldn't believe what I was having. Then the Crispy potato with buttermilk sphere. Perfectly flavored crisp potatoes along with the buttermilk, took it to the next level. The poached rice sphere (Kuzhi paniyaram) was out of the world too. The raw mango sorbet was the perfect break in between courses. The aapam and Malabar gravy was a miss. The flavour of coconut was way too strong in my opinion. The Malabar parotta with uthukuli butter curry was the best I've had. The vegetable rice wrapped in a leaf was horrendous. Flavourless steamed rice was what it was. I really wish this particular item on the menu is replaced. The carrot ice cream and others that came along tasted decent and very different. But I don't really think this section is their Forte. The service was exemplary. It was a master at work. The descriptions were short and crisp and didn't hinder the flow of the meal. Overall, this was the kind of experience that never leaves you. Brilliance in every aspect. A big salute to the brain behind Avartana. It was 2 hours that I'll never forget.

One of the best meals I have ever had. It is a MUST visit if in Chennai and even if one is not staying there. Each bite had a different flavour and experience to offer and the price was super super awesome.
