Amaravathi Reviews and Ratings - Vengavasal, Chennai

Loved it!

Rated 4.5 by Srirag Ramachandran

Situated in a good locality along the lines of Medavakkam, this place holds a good parking facility for both cars and bikes, which is not easy in a locality of this sort. I was aware of the Authentic Andhra meals this place serves, and was in for the same too. Good service, coupled with personal interaction with the manager who was inquisitive of the taste and other food services. The rice, spicy rasam, sambar, and the side dishes available were noticeable because of the distinctive Andhra touch each of it possessed. The entire meal, inclusive of the dessert gave a good fill, and a definite satiation for the taste buds. This should definitely give a satisfaction to anyone who is to visit it.

Good Enough

Went for lunch along with friends. Ordered veg meals, chicken biryani and nattukozhi fry. Veg Meal was very good but traditional pappu was missing. Biryani was a OK kind off. Not the best. Nattukozhi fry was good. But quantity was less for the price we paid. Decent place to dine in perumbakkam area. Worth to try.

Very unprofessional cooking spoiling andhra cuisine.Served an uncooked chicken biriyani and not reducing the bill.Chef doesn't even know how to cook a veg gravy or a chapati. Not recommended for food lovers.

Had meals and egg podimas. The meals was tasty as per the traditional amaravathi but the order they served was kind of mixed up. We had to ask for sambhar but were served the other items before itself. We also had to ask for Pappad as well while it would normally be served in one go in other amaravathi. I had to remind them for serving of my ordered podimas too. The ice cream was pretty average as well. All in all, taste wise, amaravathi, price wise, amaravathi but service wise, they need to improve a lot.

Have been there couple of times and they are the best in south indian, especially andhra food. Apart from nov-veg meals (their speciality), pesarattu and mutton vepudu is something to definitely try. I'm the guy who hates excessive oil, artificial food colours, unnecessarily strong flavors & spices when i dine outside. But not had this problem with amaravathi. These guys definitely know what to add and how much to add. The staff and manager were polite. I like the way she had patiently explained the recipes as my wife was struggling to choose her side dish.. lol
