Great!

It was a good experience visiting Mainland China in Chandigarh. The only problem I faced was due to the lack of preparation on the part of restaurant. Many dishes were not available. The ambience was good but it wasn't distinctive, you'll find similar ambience in most nearby restaurants in Sector 26, Chandigarh. In fact, Mainland China, Chennai has got quite an oriental feel and will score better than this one even on food front. All in all, it's a good place.

We opted for a buffet It was cold and it felt as if we went to eat at a wedding where even starters were not served at the table!! On complaining about the cold and tasteless food to the manager,he laughed and commented on the fact that no one else had a problem with the food!! Everything from the food to the staff were awful! It was sheer wastage of money!!

They serve good Chinese food ... I know there are other Chinese restaurants also ... but mainland China is a calming place ...I truly enjoy my food here ... plus they don’t make food unnecessary spicy ... like kylin ( Elante )

Tried Chilli garlic noodles with King Prawns in thai curry. Perfectly balanced Chinese food with authentic flavours and fresh ingredients. Drums of heaven - to die for 😍

So a usual Sunday brunch and we opted for the buffet, took us about 10 mins to get a table as the Sunday rush with a light showery monsoon afternoon was seemingly crowding the place. The service for starters was on the table itself and it did feel fresh. Veg spring roll was decent but was very ordinary. The next we were served chicken dumplings which were no doubt made to perfection. There were three chicken starters which were very similar in taste but were quiet pleasant and well prepared. To my surprise a mustard based crisp vegetable fry starter really was a relishing treat. It was full of flavors and was something i personally hadn't had before. The fish was excellent as well. mildly spiced and full of flavor. Ok!!! a suggestion. I really wanted a sweet and spicy oriental style dip with a lot of the on-trays and would really to request one to be introduced. On the main course, I chose mix meat rice, Hakka style noodles, Thai green curry, pickled chicken, Chicken salad, stare fried prawns and lamb meat ball in gravy. I found the food to be excellent. The rice was a little bland and lacked flavor but then the gravy's were almost done to perfection. The desert was a lavish spread as well. The usual cakes and custards. The crispy sweet cookies with chocolate sauce did stand out from the rest. All and all a perfect place to eat a lavish Indian style oriental spread with a nice and calm ambiance. Will surely be visiting often.
