It’s one in the Goldfinch Hotel It has a very unique name. I don’t know the meaning though Going here and not trying sea food is just like going to an ice cream parlour and not eating ice cream. They are so good. Including sea food, all foods are good. One more special food here is the desert. They give something in a coconut. I really don’t remember the name. But do try it. I would like to rate it ~ 4

Ambience was ok. Not very original. Inside was a little stuffy. Was not overly impressed with the food. But not bad. Enjoyed the vodka and black tea cocktail. Mushroom starter was disappointing. Lady fish fry was very good. Chicken stew lacked flavour. Appams and neer dosa were good. May go back to try more fish on their menu.

After reading pretty good reviews about the place I had bookmarked it long back. Got a chance to visit the place recently. We went there on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. Ambiance: very pretty interiors with open air concept and decor inspired from South Indian coastal regions. wall of lamps , the bar counter wall is studded with pretty colored bottles. Shelf full of brass/copper pots gives a rustic feeling Service: now this is an area I was highly dissappointed with. We asked for a table for 6. Since someone had just finished their lunch(or so I hope) as there were plates and glasses, we said we will wait outside for 5mins and come in. By the time we came in after 10mins all they had done was clear the plates and cups but left the table unclean. Had to tell them twice. Had to ask for the menu a couple of times before we got it which was 10mins later. Had to request for someone to come and take our order many times. Now once we placed the order the dishes were so hapazardly served that it was highly irritating by the end of it. Everytime we needed something we had to ask them at least twice to get it. They gave us the dish not the plates. Then they gave us the plates no cutlery. Had to request them repeatedly. We got one of the veg starter (a Chinese one that too) at the end of our meal before the cheque. My mother who the only vegetarian in the table lost her hunger Waiting for the food and ate plain appam to fill herself up. Food: food was slightly above average at its best. We ordered the lobster, crab, mangalorean chicken curry and fish. Lobster was pretty well made but the masala overpowered the lobster meat taste. Crab was pretty good too. Everything else was overly salted and too oily. Paneer ghee roast was okay-ish. Ordered mocktails- the spicy guvava was pretty good . Liked it . Coconut milk was basically banana milkshake. Neer dosas and appam were well done and freshly made.(thank god for it) the baby corn pepper we ordered came after we were all done eating and asking for it the nth number of time. No explaination was given whatsoever for that. One thing I noticed at the end of our meal was the next table had left about 20mins before we we're done and the plates and cups were still not cleared when we left. Not expected from a restaurant with such high rating. Cost- really not worth shelling so much money for food that was average.

I've been a regular here and today was a very disappointing experience. The crab soup quantity is so less as you can see in the picture, the bowl is smaller than a glass of water. Mind you, the only bottled water available is priced at ₹100. Crab soup tasted good but the portion looked like half or by two portion. The chicken pepper dry used to be my favourite and that too was a let down because of soggy chewy chicken with less spice. The Kane rava fry we ordered had no salt and we asked them to replace it. The excuse given was because the chef is new and there is a party happening in a banquet hall of the hotel. Overall, very poor experience for the price we paid. I guess they opened new branches in other cities and the chef's have moved to these new outlets and the food has suffered.
