Nothing can beat the "MEDU VADA" in South India :) This crispy VAda at CHALUKYA hotel was just amazing . Packed Sunday Crowd didn't allow us to enjoy the Dosa but this crispy delicious VAda made it up for that. The Sambar and the chutney were just amazing too :) The POORIs were an absolute delight and didn't disappoint at all. So next time, the substitute of Dosa is the Round, fluffy and Crisp Poori with Aloo Phalya at Chalukya :) . . . #Food #foodporn #foodjournal #foodjunkie #foodie #Foodgram #foodiesofIndia #foodofbangalore #foodiesofinstagram #foodgasm #foodgoals #Foodpic #InstaUpload #instapic #bengalorediaries #bengaluru #NammaBengaluru #NammaKarnataka #Bestofbangalore #Sobangalore #brigade #Nkmpitstop #foodofbengaluru #eatinbangalore #Onlyinbangalore #Hangoutsbangalore #bengalurufoodies #vada

This is one of the restaurants which I have been visiting ever since my childhood and I have so many wonderful memories attached with this place which makes me nostalgic whenever I visit it. Yesterday was one of those nights, visited it for a family dinner and as usual enjoyed my time and food over here. We ordered Babycorn Pepper dry for starters which was spicy and super yummy. Main course - Butter Naan,Roti,Nizam Handi & Tawa Pulav. Naan and Roti were soft and tender and butterlicious. Nizam Handi was medium spicy with whole lot of veggies , mushroom and paneer. Totally loved it. Later we ordered Tawa Pulav yet another dish from my fav picks of Samrat Restaurant and it tasted super yummy. It was served along with raitha and curry. I have never had a bad experience when it comes to food over here and Samrat Restaurant is always my family's first choice for North Indian dinners. However the restaurant fails to impress you when it comes to its interiors and staff service. I would have rated it a perfect 5 if it did well in these two areas. Apart from that I totally love this place and would highly recommend it.

Extreme mis-management and filthiness. We ordered dal but got some aaloo ki sabzi instead. Moreover the waiter was adamant that it was dal. Then we had to call the manager and the manager confirmed that they had send aalo bharta instead of daal punjabi(waaooo). When we started eating we were shocked to see 2 LONG STRANDS OF HAIR in the daal and gravy. We tried to call the waiter but to our disgust the WAITERS WERE BUSY SCRATCHING THEIR BALLS AND DIGGING THEIR NOSE. That was it . We gave the manager an earful , paid the bill and sweared not to come back here.

Their signature item is ' Laghu Aahar ' . Comes in 2 different avataars. One with just rice + sambar + rasam. Other with additional sweet , pooris etc.. Basam halwa was colorful ( read color 😑) and okay. The food for the most part has remained consistent over several decades. The service has been patchy earlier , but has deteriorated further in recent years. Complete lack of interest in the customer is what i experienced past couple of visits.

The meals at Hotel Samrat has been historically famous among racecourse goers and lawyers, and it doesn’t entirely fail to live up to its fame. While the meals aren’t the best we have had, it still covers the essentials of a good meal - decent sambar, tangy rasam and a coconuty palya.
