Good Enough

Rated 3.5 by Aarti Mansukhani

Idlis and dosas were good with the chutney and sambhar. Way too expensive for South Indian food. Very Average ambience, however service was good.

Mr idli as the name says has South Indian delicacies. Just for snacks we ordered one plate idly and Wada. Idli was nice, very smooth and sambhar was also not sweet. However it could have been better if wadas were made freshly hot and served.

Avoid!

Went with my wife and kiddo to Forum Value Mall around 1:30pm on 01-Jan-2017(Sunday) and decided to try out Mr. Idli as my kiddo wanted a plain Dosa. Paid Rs. 100/- for the same and decided to wait at the counter. The door to the kitchen was open and that's when the horror was unleashed. One person inside the kitchen rinsed his mouth and spat on the floor. Another one was pouring a bucketful of water on the floor. I thought he was trying to clean the mess but just then a nice big mouse shot out of the kitchen and made straight for some space below the counter! Needless to say, I cancelled the order immediately. The 1.0 that I have given as the rating is because the cashier atleast had the decency to refund the amount without me having to ask for it. I have heard tell that restaurant kitchens are quite messy and was quite shocked to see that the same applies even to outlets at leading malls that charge a bomb for simple dishes but turn a blind eye to elementary hygiene.

Great!

Ordering new things is a norm for us, so when we saw the Malnad idli sizzler on the menu, we went for it. It was awesome! The flavors were excellent with the coconut, the burnt aroma and a slight sour making a great combination. We would have preferred a little bit of less idli and more sides, but the flavors more than made up for the possible monotony.

Mr Idli is located at the 3rd floor food court in the Forum value mall, Whitefield. You can taste our own South Indian food in this outlet. I had a Chinna Bhatura which was really awesome. Try this if you have that love for south Indian veg foods.
