Madurai Canteen Reviews and Ratings - Thanisandra, Bengaluru

It’s always exciting when the office complex gets a new eating place which offers good meals at decent prices. Madurai Canteen is the newest place in the MFAR Manyata Tech Park complex and it’s visible in the crowd that flocks to get in, especially around lunch. The food is above average. The service is a little rushed to manage the lunch time nightmare. The meals are very filling and the sea food is decent. I would only recommend this place as the food quantity is good and the food is better than most of the other places in the vicinity.

Initially I was very excited to see an exclusive south indian place. I was thoroughly dissapointed with the food. First the staff is all around but very confused. Secondly not all egg eaters eat meat. So please make veg curry for the egg dishes or atleast warn the customers that it has meat. We ordered appam and egg curry. Thankfully before eating noticed a chicken piece on the egg and when we checked he said it's a non veg gravy. Got it exchanged with veg and veg curry was a disaster! Couldn't figure out what it was. There was Chettinad potato roast under starters which tasted like a curry and not really a starter or roasted potato. The appam tasted like a regular dosa in shape of appam! Basically I went in with high expectations and was dissapointed.

This hotel is located in the dockyard eating joint inside manyata tech park and hence a regular place for techies. This was my first visit at the place , went there with my colleagues and by the looks of it , it looked very crowded. We had to wait for 10 mins after which we got a table. The ambience is OK nothing fancy about it. Coming to the food, the sea food was not there which was a disappointment. Also the menu card has limited options in terms of the gravies and chicken starters. We ordered multiple things since we were a big group. Ginger chicken, chicken 65 and roasted chicken as starters. Now all the starters had same taste plus none of them were really dry. They were moist with a watery thing in them which really spoiled the taste. Also no sides, salads or chutni with the starters. The main course- chapati , chicken chettinad and chicken biryani. While the gravy was again disappointing, the chapatis looked stale and cold . Chicken biryani was better than the rest but we have far better choices to have biryani. The kottu paratha was also OK but overall the taste really needs to upscale for the price we are paying.
