Good Enough

Khara bun at Iyengar Bakery. 'Nuff said. If your not local, you must try their Honey cake, cream roll, butter biscuits, khara biscuits and aloo bun. Also, don't forget to get some of their freshly baked bread packed. It will make you forget about firangi spreads like nutella etc. . .its that good!

This place sells a variety of goodies... But the quality of the items in the Bakery is low, either the puff has too much salt or the biscuits made have very little crisp to them ... The cleanliness is good ... All in all everyday maybe a different quality there so beware ... 😉😉😉

Very Bad

Rated 1.5 by Vinesh Koka

This outlet of the bakery (that has recently sprouted in multiple areas, and three in the same Arekere neighbourhood) is located exactly at the Arekere Gate Bus Stop. Looks pretty nice at first glance, and they sell many varieties of items, but the sad part (and the biggest turn off) is that there are way too many flies and insects all over the place. I have seen insects stuck to cake slices, fruit flies and houseflies hovering INSIDE the display/storage glass shelf. I still ended up tasting some of their stuff and it is quite alright. The sponge cake is super soft, the biscuit varieties are decent, and the banana chips they sold were tasty. Now, that happened because someone brought me these and I ate it without realising it was purchased in this bakery. Yes, nothing happened to me that time, but I don't think that is justification. To be sure, I checked out the glass shelf on multiple days; every single time, I see flies hovering inside the shelf, sitting on the food, etc. It can be argued that we don't always get to see the hygiene maintained inside a closed kitchen (especially in small eateries) and therefore other places may be as bad. However, I think that is entirely different from showcasing a definite health hazard, for public display. I don't know what I don't see, but I can't buy anything here after I see what I see. Why, then 1.5 instead of the lowest 1 rating? Because the stuff that is sold packed MAY still be alright (well, at least I can't see flies in it).
