There will be a startling surprise for those who have followed FZ over these couple of years. Let’s see who can guess what this surprise is..:) A treat was long overdue from a couple of business partners. As is wont in cases where anticipation is high, disappointment is usually the norm. So FZ kept expectations low. Simran Farm near the Ahmedabad airport is well known for its Mughlai and Tawa food. It’s chicken, mutton and seafood dishes are heaven for a meat lover. Its at quite a distance from the city centre, near the airport, still, on a midweek evening, it was packed to the rafters. There was waiting for patrons for a good 20-30 minutes, which in itself speaks volumes for the restaurant. The decor is simplistic, utilitarian even.. the furniture basic.. nothing to write home about. It’s actually just about the food:) The gang was boisterous and it was decided to go the whole hog. The starters include the usual suspects - a whole variety of tandoori chicken, fish prawns and mutton. The traditional tandoori chicken, prawns and fish pakoras were tried as starters. Excellent fare. The spices and marination just right, the chicken, soft, juicy, succulent, well roasted. The prawns a dream, the fish pakoras, melt in the mouth! FZ salivating even whilst keying in:) slurp... The main course options include tawa and standard Mughlai. Tawa was zeroed in on. Bheja fry, what else:), mutton chaap with Roomali roti and then a mutton biryani to top it all up! Excellent bheja fry with the perfect spice combination, superb mutton with a great gravy and roomali rotis like nylon. So good were mains coupled with the starters that all the guys really struggled when we finally got to the biryani. The biryani was deadly too but our tummies gave up!! Full marks! Excellent food at very reasonable prices. Would give a 4.5 if it were possible. Marks lost just for ambience which is a bit run down. Cheers!
